International Vocal Jazz Sensation New York Voices Coming to St. Joseph

The St. Joseph Community Chorus (SJCC) is thrilled to welcome the internationally acclaimed vocal jazz quartet New York Voices to St. Joseph’s grandest venue, the historic Missouri Theater, on Saturday evening, February 21 at 7 PM. This special concert offers a rare opportunity for local audiences to experience one of the world’s premier vocal jazz ensembles live in concert — and in collaboration with SJCC.

Formed in New York City in 1987, New York Voices has earned global recognition for their extraordinary musicianship, intricate vocal harmonies, and inventive interpretations of jazz standards, contemporary compositions, and original works. Often compared to legendary groups such as The Manhattan Transfer and Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, the quartet is celebrated for its seamless blend of swing, bebop, Latin, and modern jazz styles.

The ensemble has released more than 20 albums, collaborated with major jazz orchestras and symphonies around the world, and worked alongside iconic artists including Bobby McFerrin, Paquito D’Rivera, Ivan Lins, and the Count Basie Orchestra. In addition to their performance careers, the members of New York Voices are respected educators who regularly teach and mentor young musicians through university residencies, masterclasses, and workshops across the globe.

Adding special significance to this appearance, 2026 marks one of the final touring seasons for New York Voices, making this concert a unique and timely opportunity to experience their artistry live.

Also joining the chorus for this special evening of jazz will be “The Standard” from Kansas City Kansas Community College under the direction of John Stafford. KCKCC has one of the best vocal jazz programs in the country. It will be delightful to have them join in this evening of jazz!

The evening’s program will feature four exciting components:

  • A performance by the St. Joseph Community Chorus,

  • A featured set by New York Voices,

  • A featured set by The Standard, and

  • A collaborative finale bringing both ensembles and a few more special guests together on stage.

SJCC will perform Kerry Marsh’s dynamic arrangements of Breaking Up Is Hard to Do, I Get Along Without You, and She’s Not There. The combined ensembles will showcase sophisticated jazz charts including Duke Ellington’s playful Bli-Blip and Chick Corea’s lyrical Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly, promising an unforgettable fusion of choral power and jazz artistry.

General admission tickets are available online at stjoechorus.org or at the door while supplies last.

  • Adults: $35

  • Seniors (55+): $30

  • Students: Free admission

This concert is a rare opportunity for the St. Joseph community to experience world-class vocal jazz while celebrating collaboration, education, and the joy of live music.
